In Buenos Aires, on the first day of our tour to
Argentina to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the
Enginyers Rugby Club, Santi and other members of the
team were reading the text of an award that our host
club granted to some of its members. To describe the
human values that the award wished to define, the
text simply described how was the person that had
inspired the award. Santi commented: "This
is the best description that I have seen of what the
word 'Rugbyman' signifies'.
Perhaps he was not conscious of the fact that he
possessed these same qualities, but this is what he
was: a 'Rugbyman'. A good friend, devoted, a hard
worker, cheerful... A tremendous optimist, no challenge
was too great for him; on or off the field he always
rendered 100%.
A most unfortunate accident when he was trying to
reach North Cape (Norway) by motorcycle robbed us
of his company. The challenge, that a short time before
we had begun together to found the Barcelona Sevens,
now more than ever and with the aid of everyone who
esteemed him, must be met..
Santi, as always: "Twenty
minutes full out!"
